Ensuring our own house is in order

Under the Nuterra programme, we focus on the monitoring and recording of five sustainability KPIs. For each of these we set targets and discuss results quarterly, so that we actively work towards meeting these targets.

We lower withdrawals from local water sources by increasing productivity per water input, reducing wastewater discharges and their pollutant load, and reducing thermal energy consumption.

We aim to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill by recycling and reusing as much as possible. We also focus on reducing the amount of products we purchase that cannot be reused or recycled.

We make smarter decisions about using newer, more energy efficient equipment and processes in our factories.

We continuously investigate options to change our energy sources to more sustainable options.

We monitor our health and safety performance by registering work accidents and by continuously improving the safety of our work environment.

 

Environmental Management Plan

Our environmental management plan covers the potential environmental impacts, regulatory and corporate environmental standards and management activities related to the Skretting Australia Cambridge feed milling operations and warehouse sites owned by Skretting.

Its aim is to provide a concise statement of management activity and environmental objectives to all Skretting employees and to the Clarence City Council, acting as our regulatory authority under the Tasmanian Environmental Management & Pollution Control Act 1994 (EMPCA).
