Skretting Canada is certified according to ISO 9000:2008, HACCP, Best Aquaculture Practices, Canadian Organic Aquaculture standards, as well as Skretting’s internal Nutrace® standard. Skretting Vancouver is also certified with the Global G.A.P. standard and FeedAssure®. We are committed to continuous improvement while upholding the highest standards of quality, food safety and sustainability.
ISO 9001:2008 - Quality Management
ISO 9001 certification confirms that Skretting's quality management system is consistent with the international standard for quality management. The certification is granted by an independent third party, which gives assurance to our customers that we have implemented the necessary internal processes to meet our obligations.
Seafood consumers globally prefer to source seafood from third-party-certified facilities for a variety of environmentally and socially responsible policy reasons. The Best Aquaculture Practices program stands out with comprehensive standards that encompass the entire aquaculture production chain, including farms, processing plants, hatcheries and feed mills. BAP standards address key requirements for responsible aquaculture, including environmental responsibility, social responsibility, food safety, animal welfare and traceability. Skretting Canada has been BAP certified since 2012.
HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points)
HACCP certification confirms that Skretting Canada has conducted a risk analyses that follow HACCP principles. The risk assessment includes implementation of limits and actions for each control point identified. The certification assures that a systematic and preventative approach to food safety is taken in accordance to the CFIA laws and regulations. Skretting Canada works closely with government departments and CFIA auditors as part of our commitment to continually improve our food safety system.
Global G.A.P. is a voluntary certification scheme that sets standards for production processes for agricultural and aquaculture processes worldwide. The Global G.A.P. standard is primarily designed to demonstrate to consumers where the food is made, how it is produced, ensuring minimal adverse environmental impacts and worker safety. Skretting Vancouver was first certified to the Global G.A.P. standard in 2014.
Both Skretting facilities in Canada have been certified as being in compliance with Canadian Organic Aquaculture standard CAN/CGSB-32.312-2012. This certification ensures that organic feed produced is controlled and contains no GMO ingredients, artificial colorants, synthetic appetite enhancers and all fishmeal and oil if not organically sourced is from trimmings of fish already caught for human consumption within sustainable fisheries under the FAO Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries.

FeedAssure® is a comprehensive feed safety management and certification program developed by ANAC for the Canadian feed industry in 1999. It is a customized full HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) program of processes and controls that bring the highest safety standards to feed production. FeedAssure® was the first feed industry HACCP program developed in North America and one of the first in the world.
