Digital Innovation: Our Journey in Precision Agriculture
For 125 years, Skretting has been at the forefront of aquaculture, not only as a feed producer, but as a pioneer in digital innovation. Our purpose of "Feeding the Future" goes beyond delivering high-quality, sustainable feed, it also includes the development of cutting-edge digital tools that help farmers optimize performance. This could be everything from sustainability reporting to integrations with farming systems and biomass chambers... It's all part of our ever-evolving digital ecosystem. Digitalisation is not an option, it is a necessity, and here at Skretting, we have embraced this reality through the continuous evolution of our digital infrastructure.

A legacy of innovation
Our commitment to digital solutions began long before the term "digital transformation" became a buzzword. In the early 1990s, we launched WinMix, an in-house developed feed recipe optimization program that connects feed formulation and production. This innovation continues to keep Skretting at the forefront of formulation.
In the 90s, realizing that there was a pattern to growing and feeding salmon, we began creating feeding tables and growth models, which became our digital forecasting suite, AquaSim. This digital array generates growth models not only for salmon, but also for a wide range of other fish and prawn species. AquaSim provides farmers with advanced models that predict growth, optimize feeding strategies, and improve farm performance under different environmental conditions.
Precision aquaculture in practice: Skretting 360+
Digital tools and services can improve productivity and simplify our customers' operations, and Skretting 360+ offers a complete package: innovative tools and comprehensive services to optimise feeding, production and healthcare management, including proactive technical support, all through AquaSim.
Skretting 360+ was successfully introduced to shrimp farms in Ecuador in 2018, thanks to the collaboration with Eruvaka, a company specialising in cloud-based aquaculture pond management solutions, including real-time monitoring and smart feeders.
The expansion of the Skretting 360+ programme to connected farms in the Mediterranean region is another example of success. Sea bass and sea bream growers can benefit from continuous monitoring of their farm growth performance and operations through our 360+ program.
Collecting essential data in real-time allows our teams to take preventive and proactive measures to help customers get the most value from their farms, sustainably and profitably. Based on assessments of each farm's growing environment and production targets, we offer a variety of recommendations, including the most profitable planting patterns, feed selection and the most appropriate feeding strategy to achieve the desired results. Skretting 360+ provides a holistic view of the business and gives growers full control over the production cycle.
Skaila Datahub: Harnessing the Power of Data
Skaila Datahub is an excellent example of our commitment to data-driven decision-making. This powerful platform integrates data from multiple sources, both internal and external, to create a single, secure, and accessible repository. With features like object- and row-level security, Skaila Datahub ensures that data is accessible and protected.
The Skaila Datahub is ready to replace the AquaSim dataset, bringing even more efficiency and accuracy to our digital tools. It will enable our teams to generate actionable insights and help farmers anticipate harvest times, optimize feed use, and predict price trends.

The future of sustainable aquaculture
Our journey doesn't stop here. We are constantly exploring new ways to improve our digital offerings. From automating sustainability reporting to integrating farm data, we are committed to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in aquaculture. For example, the integration of the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) database allows us to connect with suppliers and share responsibility for sustainability across the value chain.
In addition, our customer ecosystem is evolving to respond to the growing demand for seamless, self-service digital experiences. With enhancements to our online ordering platforms and customer portals, we're making it easier than ever to access essential tools and information. Whether through a mobile app or from a computer, our customers can now place food orders, track their deliveries and access important documentation, all from one place.
At Skretting, digital innovation is more than a strategy – it's a commitment to our customers and to the future of aquaculture. As we continue to develop and refine our digital tools, we maintain our focus on empowering producers with the precision and insights needed to succeed. And this is just the beginning of what digitalization can offer. As we accelerate our efforts, we are convinced that the best is yet to come.
