Women in Science

The world needs science, and science needs women. At Skretting, we have a lot of talented scientists, and a large part of them are women. Here, you can meet some of them to learn what inspired them to work in science and what this means for them.

Meet Benedetta

Benedetta was clear from a young age that veterinary medicine was her passion. "I decided to specialize in animal production because I wanted to contribute significantly to a goal such as Feeding the Future: to help through my work to guarantee safe and quality food for the population," she explains.

One of the biggest challenges she has faced in the field has been making her way in an environment with gender barriers. "This challenge has taught me to be resilient and to constantly push myself," Benedetta says. "Science is genderless, and it is essential that we work to remove any barriers that limit our potential."

Commenting on her experience, Benedetta comments: "Skretting has given me the opportunity to turn my passion and commitment into concrete results. I have found an environment that fosters innovation, collaboration, and continued growth."

Meet Isabel

Isabel is a Formulator at Skretting Spain. Her path in biology began with an insatiable curiosity about the world around her. "I fell in love with all the fields I studied," says Isabel.

Despite the difficulties, Isabel worked to continue her studies. "My family couldn't afford to help me with my studies, so I worked to save," she explains. A discouraging comment from someone close to her motivated her even more: "Someone said that the best thing I could aspire to was to be a shop assistant, because Biology had no way out."

Isabel paid for her master's degree and discovered her passion for formulation, which allowed her to live and work abroad. "My story is not a call to vocation, but to self-confidence. It's okay if you don't know what your ideal job is, but as long as you know what you want, opportunities will arise," says Isabel. "The opinions of others are just that, opinions."

Meet Ana

Ana is a Process Engineer and her main motivation is to improve the efficiency of manufacturing processes. "Seeing how my ideas are turned into concrete results is very satisfying. In addition to working as a team and collaborating with different areas to achieve common goals," says Ana.

For young girls who want to study engineering, Ana advises: "Engineering needs diversity of perspectives. Surround yourself with a network of support and be curious. Don't be afraid to stand up to stereotypes."

On her development, Ana highlights: "Skretting has given me the opportunity to work on challenging projects and improve my skills with continuous training and new challenges."
