ACT

Lead with action, build connections, and ensure transparency – that’s how the seafood value chain must work to bring food to tables worldwide. Skretting commits to it, practices it, and makes it simple – and profitable – for both suppliers and farmers to follow.

Driving Change Through ACT

Sustainability is about taking action that drives real change while creating long-term value. ACT is our approach to making a meaningful impact by focusing on the right areas, engaging the right people, and ensuring transparency at every step.  Through ACT, Skretting is leading the way in co-creating sustainable solutions that benefit suppliers, farmers and the entire industry.

How we co-create change

  • Aerial Net Fishing Shot
    100% certified high-risk ingredients
    • We identify soy, palm and marine ingredients as high risk.
    • We are committed to 100% of these ingredients coming from certified sources by 2030.
    • Our goal is to prevent deforestation, overfishing, and damage to ecosystems.
    • We prioritize credible certifications when available.
    • We proactively support certification efforts when they do not exist.
  • Mushroom in the forest
50% novel, circular or regenerative ingredients
    • We seek to generate a positive impact for nature and people
    • We respect the limits of the planet and share the value
    • We use novel, circular and regenerative ingredients
    • We apply sustainable sourcing wherever possible
    • Collaborating to scale up new ingredients
  • Aerial shot of a forest
Greenhouse gas (GHG) targets for 2030

We help our clients achieve their GHG reduction targets, for both FLAG and non-FLAG emissions.

    • It is mainly achieved through deforestation-free sourcing (FLAG emissions).
    • The remaining deficiencies are remedied with regenerative practices (FLAG emissions).
    • Priority is given to low-emission supply chain partners (non-FLAG emissions).
    • Ingredient manufacturers are encouraged to switch to renewable energy sources (non-FLAG emissions).
  • A feed pellet that sinks underwater
    Reduce nutrient leakage

Nutrients can leach from the feed into the water, causing waste and environmental damage.

    • We prevent leaks with highly durable pellets.
    • We increase nutrient utilization through more digestible feed solutions.
  • Hands under running water
    Reduce freshwater use

Freshwater covers less than 3% of the world's water, but it is vital for life. It is threatened by pollution, overuse, and climate change.

    • We use feed ingredients that are less dependent on fresh water.
    • We reduce the use of fresh water in our factories.
    • We pay special attention to water-scarce regions.
  • Aerial shot of the tuna farm
Functional solutions to optimize farm footprint and performance

We have been working with farmers for a long time to make a real impact. Today, we go further:

    • We lead in feed yield, raw material use and local adaptation
    • We leverage innovation, expertise and collaborations
    • We co-develop feed that improves profits, people and the planet
  • Farmer pointing at soybean plant
Trusted leader in value chain collaboration

Today's solutions won't be enough tomorrow, and many necessary solutions don't yet exist on a large scale. The entire value chain will need to come together to solve these problems and find solutions

    • We connect farmers, researchers and industry to drive innovation.
    • We remove supply chain barriers to accelerate impact.
    • We create forums and associations to make them a reality.
  • Glass sphere reflecting the forest upside down
Disclosure of information on high-risk supply chains

The supply chain comes with serious sustainability risks that are often ignored until solutions appear. We want to change that pattern.

    • We face and communicate difficult problems openly and honestly
    • We talk about what has been done and what still needs to be done
