Is a low fishmeal and fish-oil content harmful to fish and shrimp?
A lower fishmeal and fish-oil content is not inherently harmful. Fishmeal and fish oil provide valuable nutrients, but feeds can use a range of suitable ingredients when the complete formulation meets the nutritional requirements of the species and life stage.
The appropriate inclusion level depends on the nutrients provided by each ingredient, its quality and digestibility, and the intended use of the feed. When fishmeal or fish oil is reduced or replaced, the complete formulation must continue to provide the essential nutrients the fish or shrimp needs.
