Meet a Quebec Farmer Proudly Raising Canadian Trout

Canadian Trout

This article is part of Skretting Canada’s “Meet the Farmer” series, a campaign dedicated to showcasing the people, passion, and expertise behind North American aquaculture. Through these interviews, we aim to highlight sustainable practices, family legacies, and the innovative approaches farmers like Clément use to produce healthy, high-quality fish.

In the scenic countryside of Quebec, La Ferme Piscicole des Bobines has been raising trout for nearly 50 years. Founded in 1975 by Clément Roy’s parents, the farm was one of the first in the province to focus on trout, blending family experience with modern farming practices.

Today, Clément Roy carries the family tradition forward, balancing day-to-day farm work with innovation in aquaculture. In our Meet the Farmer video, he shares his journey from growing up on the farm to leading the family business, and how his career even took a detour before returning to the farm.
