Skretting publishes 2017 Sustainability Report

Sustainability report 2017

In 2017, Skretting continued to help advance aquaculture industry in a sustainable way and fulfil our mission of ‘Feeding the Future’.

Together with the parent company Nutreco, the group-wide sustainability programme Nuterra sets clear sustainability ambitions and aspirations, and these objectives are aligned with the long-term goals of our strategy and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Sustainability Report provides an overview of our achievements in 2017 in regard to each of the Nuterra pillars Nutritional Solutions, Ingredients, Operations and Commitment and their impacts on the society as well as the specific SDGs addressed. In the last 12 months, Skretting expanded its global presence into developing countries within Africa and Asia and contributed towards the development of more sustainable food production. Skretting’s sustainability ambitions are realised through the delivery of highly innovative and sustainable nutritional solutions as well as the commitment and partnership with local communities.

This year’s Sustainability Report highlights our engagement in the fishery improvement projects (FIP) in Peru and Vietnam and our long-term support to local communities through the Community Development Projects in Nigeria and Zambia. Skretting Sustainability Manager Trygve Berg Lea says, “We take great pride in these projects as they help small-scale farmers to run productive and profitable farms in a sustainable way. Our goal is to create both economic and social value for the local communities by addressing their needs and challenges.” Skretting aims to establish three new community development projects in emerging economies by 2020. The 2017 Sustainability Report was drafted according to the GRI Sustainability Reporting Standards and demonstrates Skretting’s continued commitment to sustainability reporting and UN SDGs.
