Sophie Ryan
Sophie Ryan is CEO of the Global Salmon Initiative (GSI), a CEO-led leadership platform representing companies responsible for more than 40% of global farmed salmon production and committed to continuous improvement in sustainability performance. Her work focuses on accelerating environmental progress, strengthening transparency and reporting, and building multi-stakeholder partnerships to support the sector’s long-term credibility and social licence.
Having worked with GSI since its inception in 2013, Sophie has played a central role in the organisation’s growth and impact, including supporting the development and launch of the first industry-wide sustainability report in the global food sector, and building effective partnerships with World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and the Gates Foundation.
Sophie also leads the Secretariat for the African Aquaculture Business Leaders Network (AABLN), a private-sector initiative supporting responsible aquaculture development in sub-Saharan Africa. She has previously served as a Trustee of the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) and as a Steering Committee member of the Blue Foods Partnership, run in partnership with the World Economic Forum.
