Three new solutions. One commitment to LifeStart innovation

Calanus under water

As part of Skretting’s continued commitment to LifeStart innovation, we are introducing a new generation of nutritional solutions that support shrimp performance from the very beginning.

21 October, 2026

At Skretting, we believe that the foundations of success are built during the earliest stages of life. Through our LifeStart portfolio, we combine science, technical expertise and production insights to develop innovative solutions for shrimp during their earliest life stages. Today, that commitment is reflected in the launch of three new products in the Ecuadorian market:  InVita, Ignis and Optiline Starters, designed to bring a new approach to shrimp nutrition and create new possibilities for the industry.

A new approach to larval feeding

Developed for use alongside Skretting’s dry feed Elevia during larval to early post-larval stages, InVita is a liquid feed supplement that represents a new approach to shrimp larval feeding. It helps hatcheries achieve a more resilient feeding programme, supporting performance and operational consistency.

The ready-to-use solution acts as a feed stimulant and mimics valuable live feed functions. Powered by proprietary production expertise, its buoyant sponge-gel micro beads provide targeted gut hydration, remain available in the water column and encourage feed uptake.

The development of InVita follows an extensive process of research and development, engineering and validation across multiple hatchery settings. The liquid feed is produced using a "Factory in a Box" production platform, developed in Belgium exclusively for this purpose and located now in Ecuador. The proprietary product is the result of an extensive validation programme that included more than 15 trials, over 100 in vivo tests, and validation studies in Ecuador, Vietnam, Belgium and Mexico.

“The biggest shifts in an industry rarely come from a product alone. They happen when people recognise a better solution and want to be a part of it. InVita is designed to help hatcheries move towards a new approach to feeding: simpler, more controlled and built for the future. More than a new product, InVita is an invitation to challenge convention and rethink hatchery production”, said Eamonn O’Brien, Global Product Manager LifeStart at Skretting.

Like InVita, Ignis is also designed to supplement dry feed. Made from concentrated, pasteurised Calanus finmarchicus, a tiny marine copepod rich in essential nutrients, Ignis promotes feed intake during the critical post-larval phase transition. The solution delivers a unique combination of natural nutrients in a convenient, biosecure format.

Developed in partnership with Zooca Calanus, Ignis harnesses the nutritional potential of an abundant marine resource harvested from the Norwegian Sea. The collaboration combines Skretting’s nutritional expertise with Zooca’s unique processing capabilities.

Supporting shrimp from nursery to grow-out

Optiline Starters is the last solution to complete our shrimp portfolio supporting shrimp from nursery through grow-out. By combining stage-specific nutritional solutions with our proprietary EDGEOS PhytoComplexes, developed in collaboration with Nutreco Exploration, Optiline delivers the right nutrition at every stage of development to maximise growth and efficiency. Harnessing the natural complexity of plants, EDGEOS PhytoComplexes leverage a synergistic blend of plant-derive bioactive compounds, unlocking the full potential of plant diversity to support shrimp performance.

“Our farmers have decades of experience and a deep understanding of shrimp production. In a mature market like Ecuador, continued progress comes from paying attention to every detail, specially during the earliest stages of development. The nutritional decisions made at the start of the shrimp’s journey can influence performance throughout the production cycle. That is why we are excited to bring in InVita, Ignis, and Optiline Starters to the market as part of our commitment to life start innovation.”, said Carolina Kourroski, Marketing Director at Skretting LatAm.

With InVita, Ignis and Optiline Starters, Skretting reinforces its commitment to LifeStart innovation, expanding its portfolio with innovative solutions for every stage of early shrimp development. While Ignis is already available in selected markets, InVita and Optiline Starters will first be launched in Ecuador, with more countries to follow.
