Global challenge

By 2050, the world population will have grown to over 9.5 billion people. At the same time, increased urbanisation and income growth are changing dietary preferences and increasing the demand for animal proteins.

Through our focus on sustainable innovation we aspire to be part of the solution. As an aqua feed company with a global presence, we are ideally positioned to contribute towards the development of more sustainable food production.

Skretting's Nuterra programme is designed to live up to our responsibilities and ambitions over a period of several years as we work to fulfil our mission of “Feeding the Future”. The objectives are aligned with the long-term goals of our strategy as well as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

We support the UN Sustainable Development Goals

In 2015 the United Nations introduced a set of goals to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all as part of a new sustainable development agenda. Each goal has specific targets to be achieved over the next 15 years. 

Skretting believes that our Nuterra programme within many areas is aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Our Mission of ‘Feeding the Future’ is about fulfilling goal no 2: End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture.

Bridging the raw material gap

As the global population continues to grow, a 30 million tonne projected increase in aquaculture production means there will be a need for an additional 45 million tonnes of raw materials.
